Stoltzfus é um atleta mediano, que desde sua vitória no Contender Series não mostrou uma performance que o “graduasse” a figurar no maior evento do planeta.

Sua luta no Contender foi interrompida, quando em um evento equilibrado com Joseph Pyfer, onde perdia em pé, conseguiu encaixar uma queda em que ao projetar o corpo de seu oponente ao solo a luta é interrompida por lesão, Pyfer desistiu, pois lesionou o braço. Foi um acidente. Não foi uma queda impressionante. Pyfer caiu de mal jeito, ao tentar amortecer a queda com o braço, pois caia de lado.
Estreia no UFC
A estreia de Dustin no UFC foi contra o grappler Kyler Daukaus (não muito eficiente) e perdeu por pontos, não conseguiu imprimir seu ritmo seja no grappling, em projeção de quedas, seja em pé. Foi uma luta que, se não teve ameaça de finalização e sequer foi notabilizada pelo equilíbrio.
Stoltzfus alegou recentemente que sua atuação foi prejudicada pelo covid, uma vez que ainda se sentia cansado. Não havia se recuperado totalmente e que esta luta seria diferente. Não me pareceu.
Rodolfo convenceu?
Antes de exaltar a vitoria do Rodolfo, apenas razoável diante de um atleta sem experiência, nota-se que, no meu modo de ver, a trocação não será o caminho das vitorias, por mais que tenha melhorado. Desista disso.
Contra atletas mais gabaritados essa estratégia não irá lhe dar frutos. O seu problema é FÍSICO e a sua praia é jiu jitsu.
MMA é encaixe, um triátlon, você não pode escolher trocar num round e fazer grappling no outro. Até porque, resistência aeróbica (lançamento de golpes) e resistência de força (grappling) são caminhos totalmente antagônicos e que pode ser fatal para quem não está acostumado a “trocar porrada” e colocar pra baixo por muito tempo. Esquece o boxe (faz o básico 1 – 2), foca no wrestling e no judô, a sua deficiência está ai.
O caminho da vitória esta em copiar o que deu certo: Damian Maia, Khabib, GSP e agora, Islam Makachev.
